Jockey Sponsorship deal for Dan Carter
Essentially, the AIM listed full service sports marketing and media group, announces that its wholly owned subsidiary Global Sports Management ("GSM") has negotiated a major new sponsorship deal with Jockey, the designer and manufacturer of mens underwear, on behalf of New Zealand All Black and 2005 World Rugby Player of the Year, Dan Carter.
The contract, announced today, will see long term GSM client Dan Carter promote Jockey’s new ’3D range’ and act as ambassador to the brand as they launch the range in the UK and Europe.
This reflects the increased profile of Dan Carter as one of the leading icons of the modern game and his growing international appeal.
The Jockey 3D collection has five different ’silhouettes’ and has been developed from findings based on the body scans of thousands of people. The new 3D technology features sophisticated patterns that enable the garments to mirror the movements and shape of the human body.
Commenting on the deal, Bart Campbell Chief Executive Officer of Essentially Group said: "I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the GSM team representing Dan Carter for its ongoing professionalism and commercial skill in representing its clients’ best interests. Securing this contract for Dan Carter, currently regarded by many as one of, if not the best Rugby Union player in world, is further evidence of GSM’s ability to arrange attractive image rights deals for its clients in addition to playing contracts..Deals like these underpin our growth and with the forthcoming Rugby World Cup in France, we expect more announcements of this nature to be made."
GSM has offices in the UK, New Zealand, Japan and South Africa and is the leading athlete representation, sponsorship and rights management business in Rugby Union.
